ACTIVITIES

Activities in Scouting come under several different headings.

Land Activities

Land activities are a key part of the exciting six to twenty five Programme. Young people are encouraged to try new activities and develop their current interests through activities ranging from archery to rock climbing. We believe that by taking part in safe but challenging activities, young people develop new skills and abilities.

All the Scout Groups and Explorer Scout Units in Royal Kingston provide a wide variety of land based activities for members.

Royal Kingston also has a thriving Air Rifle Club which offers additional shooting activities for members over Scout age (10 ½ years).

ROYAL KINGSTON DISTRICT AIR RIFLE CLUB

All members of the District have the opportunity to participate in sleepovers and camps, several of which take place overseas.

Water Activities

Water activities give young people the opportunity to take to the water in a variety of challenging ways. These range from high adventure water sports such as water skiing and offshore sailing to more traditional activities such as a canal boat expedition. Sea Scout and Explorer Sea Scout programmes allow young people to undertake water activities as a specialisation whilst following the Scouting Programme

There are two specialised Sea Scout Groups and two Sea Scout Explorer Scout Units in Royal Kingston where more emphasis is placed on water activities.

Royal Kingston also has a District Canoe Club open to all members over Scout age (10 ½ years).

Air Activities

Air activities in Scouting range from high adventure glider flights and parascending to kite making and visits to air fields. As with Sea Scouts, Air Scouts and Air Explorer Scout programmes allow young people to undertake air activities as a specialisation whilst following the Scouting Programme.

There is one specialised Air Scout Group in Royal Kingston where more emphasis is placed on Air Activities.

Creative Activities

Creative activities allow young people to express themselves in different ways. Through dance, music, art and craft young people are invited to develop their talents or try something new. Creative activities can include circus skills, urban street art, sculpture and photography. More traditional Scout activities such as Scout Orchestras and Scout Shows remain a popular way for young people to explore their creative talents.

All Sections of Scouting within Royal Kingston place great emphasis on Creative Activities.
