Water Funday
Back in June, 2nd Malden again
hosted a Water Funday at Shepperton Lock.
Four Packs from Royal Kingston & Spelthorne Districts
decided that England v Paraguay would be worth missing and joined in a day of
wet activities in and on the Thames.
This year we had a Motor Boat available (Sadly, you cannot
use the word 'Power' to describe anything that can be overtaken by a canoe) and
rides to see the Canoe sessions usually resulted in all the boaters being
thoroughly splashed.
The Cubs also tried rescuing a stranded cub by using a
throw line with varying degrees of success,
although the response from one unsuccessful cub that
'we wouldn't want to rescue him anyway'
was not quite what
we'd expected.
The afternoon was dedicated to a Canoe Jousting competition
as Cubs armed with mops attempted to knock each other into the river.

Alongside this was a pillow fighting competition with cubs
sitting (briefly) on a pole over the river,
armed with a pillow.
News of England's performance arrived at the same time as the presentation of
the trophy to 2nd Malden,
who narrowly beat 1st Kingston Hill into 2nd, with 1st
Shepperton just behind and a
celebratory barbeque rounded off a very warm & successful day.
